Daughters of Heavenly Father
By Debbie Miyahana, Relief Society President

The message I share is not all my words; it is from the address to the Relief Society sisters at a Relief Society Conference with Sister Bonnie Oscarson. Sister Oscarson was the 14th Young Women’s General President. In her talk, she reminds the sisters that we are different and unique, but we all acknowledge we are daughters of Heavenly Father, which makes us sisters in Christ.
She goes on to say, to be sisters implies there is an unbreakable bond between us:
Sisters take care of each other
Watch out for each other
Comfort each other
We are there for each other through thick and thin. We are united in building the kingdom of God no matter our circumstances.
Sisters and Brothers, we are all children of our Heavenly Father. We are all sisters and brothers in Christ. We have a common thread, and that is that we love the Lord and we strive to live our lives as he did:
With unconditional love for one another
To uplift one another
Helping those in need
Always be an example of Christ.
I am blessed to call you my sisters and brothers in Christ.
Ward Trunk or Treat Highlight Video
Relive the fun of our Trunk-or-Treat—or see all the fun and cuteness you missed! 🎃👻
This highlight video captures some of our favorite moments from the evening, from the games, activities, and creative costumes to our Tree of Life Maze and, of course, Trunk-or-Treat! You will also get to see our Costume Contest winnersand Chili Cook-Off winners.
Mahalo to everyone who worked so hard to make the evening such a wonderful success, and to all who came, invited family and friends, and helped make it a night to remember. We hope you enjoy looking back on all the fun!
Sharing the Gospel in Natural Ways
Take a minute to listen to a message on sharing the gospel from our missionaries, Elder Guillermo and Elder Petersen. If you like the message, see the next section.

Meet the States

Aloha mai,
Bishop asked if we would share a little about our family, work a hobbies. So here we go!
We are the States family. Emily and I have been married for 10 years and have 3 kids, Pili, Kawai and Kamalu. We always thought we’d have 6 kids, but once Pili came along we rethought our plans.
We both work and share the responsibilities of taking care of the house and the kids. As a family you can typically find us playing soccer, going to the beach or eating popcorn while watching a good movie. Something unique about our family is that we all speak olelo Hawaii (Hawaiian). That’s the primary language at home and so you might hear us having conversations amongst ourselves, but don’t worry if we’re talking about you. Just know that we are 😉

What do we do for work? We both work under our family business, Kaulumaika. Emily is an artist focusing on native Hawaiian plants and other things unique to our islands. She produces fabric, pareu, blankets, stationery and more! She is also a muralist. Maybe you’ve seen one of them? Learn more about what she does at kaulumaika.com.

As for myself, I do all things Hawaiian language. I provide tutoring, consulting and translation services. One of the more relevant project I am working on is translating church materials into the Hawaiian . I also create online courses, subscription and create content to teach and spread awareness for the language. You can learn more about what I do at kaalala.com.
I think that’s enough about us. Thanks for reading.
Hui hou aku no kakou,
Aloha
