The Gathering

In the October 2022 general conference, President Russell M. Nelson said, “As I have stated before, the gathering of Israel is the most important work taking place on earth today.”
The gathering started when a young boy named Joseph Smith was searching for the true church. He read James 1:5 which says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” He then went into the forest, knelt in prayer and inquired of the Lord. God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph, called him by name, and his prophetic journey commenced.
The gathering continues today and will continue until Jesus Christ comes again.
There are many ways that we can help with the gathering;
We can teach our children about Jesus Christ and be examples of those who follow Him.
We can teach others about Jesus Christ by going on missions or being member missionaries who share what we believe.
When our children are baptized or we help friends come into the gospel this is a part of the gathering.
We can faithfully minister to all in need and not just the people that we are assigned to minister to. This will help them to feel the love of Christ.
We can do genealogy work. Genealogy is part of the gathering, especially when our names are taken to the Temple.
If we struggle with genealogy, we can do temple work for people who we don’t know but who will be eternally grateful to us for our time and efforts. It is a part of the gathering
Accepting and fulfilling our callings is also a great way to gather Israel. Our efforts make sure that as we bring new people in, there is a space to keep us together.
We are in the last dispensation of time. I testify that the gathering of Israel is the most important work we can do today. Ask Heavenly Father to help you to be an instrument in the gathering of Israel. As you do the work, you will be blessed and have peace and joy. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Aman.
Weekly Family Message

Aloha Kaneohe 4th Ward Ohana,
I'm grateful for the theme that our Bishopric has selected for us to ponder and strive for in 2026-2027.
Building a strong foundation based on Jesus Christ has always been very important to me personally, and as Skitch and I were raising our children. The immediate thought that came to mind was prayer. Prayer has always been an important part of building my spiritual foundation and the spiritual foundation of our family. I found that having family prayer together strengthened our family by inviting the Spirit of the Lord into our home. Prayer can help our family become more patient, kind, and forgiving toward one another.
As we make prayer a consistent part of our lives and our homes, I believe we build a foundation that can carry us through both the peaceful and difficult seasons of life. When we invite the Spirit into our homes through prayer, we create an environment where our families can feel loved, strengthened, and guided by the Savior.
I know that as we build our foundation on Jesus Christ, He will guide us and help our families become more united in His love.

An Update from Sister Luana Richter
Where are you currently serving?
Aloha K4 Family!! As you know I'm serving in the Utah Salt Lake City South Mission and right now I'm serving the people in the Herriman Butterfield Canyon Stake!!
Also for those of you that don't know, we cover a whole stake in Utah rather than a ward!! This will be the final stake I serve in before I make the journey back home!! I've enjoyed my time in Utah and serving these amazing and faithful people!!
What has been a challenge lately?
A challenge I'm currently facing is having been moved to a completely new area for my final transfer. I feel like I don't have enough time with these people and don't know if I can make a difference while I'm here.
Where have you seen God's hand in your missionary work?
I've felt the Savior's love so deeply, comforting me to know that He has a plan!! I've trusted in this plan so strongly since I've been out and I will continue to trust Him as I continue on!!
What would you like the K4 Ward members to know?
I want y'all to know how much I love and trust in our Savior and hope that you can look for ways in your life to trust in the Lord!!

Meet the Westergards
Jimmie and Diana met as students at BYU–Hawai‘i in the fall of 2019. Both were science majors and returned missionaries, and they quickly bonded over their classes and shared love of the gospel. Jimmie served in the Fortaleza Brazil Mission, while Diana served in the California San Fernando and Los Angeles Missions. Their friendship grew, and in July 2020 they were married in the Houston Texas Temple.
Jimmie graduated in 2021 with a degree in Marine Biology and minors in Theater and Education. Since graduating, he has worked as an animal trainer at Sea Life Park and as an educator at Kualoa Ranch, and he currently works as a security guard at Windward Mall. Diana graduated in 2023 with a degree in Molecular Biology and minors in Accounting, Theater, and Spanish. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and recently began teaching genetics at BYU–Hawai‘i. As part of her Ph.D. studies, Diana is researching novel drug therapies for multiple subtypes of breast cancer.
Jimmie and Diana recently purchased their first home, which brought them to the Kāne‘ohe 4th Ward. They have already jumped right into serving, with Jimmie currently serving as our Ward Mission Leader and Diana as one of our Gospel Doctrine teachers. We are grateful to have the Westergards as part of our ward ʻohana and look forward to getting to know them even better!
